Character Trait of the Month:  Perseverance

The #ArchieStrong character trait for April is PERSEVERANCE.

Dear Families,

This month's character trait is perseverance. As we approach the end of the school year, it's more important than ever to stay determined and keep pushing forward.

What is perseverance?

The Webster Dictionary describes perseverance as not giving up. It is persistence and tenacity, the effort required to do something and keep doing it till the end, even if it's hard. In simple words, it is the ability to keep doing something even when it is hard, no matter how long it may take to reach the goal.

It is the continual effort in working towards something. These last 30 or so days of school, students and staff keep working hard and trying until that last day! We have state testing coming up, which will show us our effort throughout the year and as we continue to push to the very end of the 2025-2026 school year!

Ways to Help Students Learn Perseverance:

- Praise effort

- Model perseverance

- Challenge students

- Give kids opportunities to help others

- Set realistic goals

- Write positive affirmations

- Give encouragement

- Perseverance helps students manage their emotions

Thank you for partnering with us to foster this character trait in your child.

Warmly,

Mrs.Johnston, Archie School Counselor

Updates, Reminders and Upcoming Events

Santa Shop dates for december 15=16th

⇐  Dress Code Reminders: The warm weather brings spring reminders.  Please review the guidelines and discuss them with your child.

----------------------------------------------------

⇒Preschool 2026 Enrollment Night:  All NEW families to the preschool have the opportunity to sign up for preschool. Our early childhood staff will give an overview of our program. Don't miss out; enrollment space is limited!

The upcoming ballot in April includes a proposal related to the Archie R-V School District. Voters will be asked whether to approve a bond issue that would fund improvements to school facilities without increasing the current tax rate. If approved, the bond would provide money for building upgrades, repairs, and other facility needs to support students, staff, and community use of the schools. The vote simply determines whether the district can use bond funding, at the existing tax level, to move forward with these improvements.

Improvements include:

- Soffit and roof repairs

-Air quality improvements- abatement/asbestos removal & remediation/mold removal

- Window and door replacement as needed

- HVAC automation

KIDZ Inc. is coming to the Archie R-V School District this spring!

We are excited to share that our facility is expected to open in late April. Enrollment is now open for the remainder of the current school year, summer programming, and the upcoming school year.

Spots are limited, so don’t wait to sign up and miss your opportunity! The enrollment form includes a section for questions, and the KIDZ Inc. team will respond as soon as possible.

Once the facility is open, KIDZ Inc. will apply for state subsidies that could decrease or cover the cost of daycare for qualifying families.

This partnership is designed to provide a safe, convenient childcare option for your child and family. We look forward to serving the Archie community!

You Matter Archie

You Matter Archie brightened our day on the International Day of Happiness, Friday, March 20th. A bag of cookies and warm smiles made the occasion even more special. Staff members always enjoy a visit from the Woot-Woot Wagon as well! Thank you, You Matter Archie, for spreading joy and positivity!

Teamwork-Students of the Month for March

Bottom Left: The Whirlwind Buck winners for March received a gift certificate for a free donut at Archie Casey’s! Students earn Whirlwind Bucks in specials, Title I, and at lunch. All bucks are entered into a drawing at the end of each month, and five winners are selected to receive this special treat.

Bottom Left Center: These students were recognized for their teamwork.  They worked together to accomplish great things in the classroom, at recess, and around the school.  You might see them helping a friend, working in a group, or asking the teacher where they can help out.  Several of the students were recognized for their flexibility when asked to work with any peer and for their help to the team when things are frustrating.   #ArchieStrong

Bottom Right Center:  Perfect attendance can be hard to achieve during cold and flu season.  These students had perfect attendance for the 3rd quarter.

Bottom Right: March birthdays were recognized with a special treat from You Matter Archie while the student body sang to them!

The Cup Stacking Tournament was a major success for Archie this year! We had 13 students medal in the cycle, with 9 medals in the 3-6-3 competition and 8 medals in the 3-3-3 competition. Our 2nd and 4th-grade teams both placed 1st in the relay race. Additionally, we took home the traveling cup stacking trophy for winning the relay race, which featured one student from each grade level in attendance, along with the P.E. teacher.

Moments Worth Celebrating

Left:  Mrs. Jordyn New and her husband, Ryan, will welcome their first little Whirlwind this month. Mrs.New is a third-grade teacher at Archie Elementary.

Middle:  Julie Smith and Ryan Grimes have served on the Archie School Board for a combined total of more than 25 years.  We thank them and the other board members for their time, commitment and service to the Archie R-V School District.

Right:  Fifth grader Carter Wilson participated in the Cass County Spelling Bee. Carter got 4th place and is looking forward to participating next year.  We are so proud of Carter!

Commitment to Kindergarten

Each incoming kindergartner signed a commitment.  The link to the photos will be shared in Rooms.  Be on the lookout! Kindergarten Readiness night will be on May 7th at 6:30 p.m.

K screening team

Our #ArchieStrong kindergarten screening team welcomed 41 incoming kindergarten students!  A big shout out to our preschool team for helping them prepare the past two years! Don't miss out on preschool enrollment coming up on April 22nd at 6:30 p.m.

Thank you to Kelsey Guthrie for the cute backdrop to make the day special!
