September News

The first few weeks of school have been great. Students, staff and families are building relationships and settling into a routine. Let's bring on the fall weather!

A Message From Mrs. Stroud

Dear Whirlwind Families-

It is September already! We are all getting used to new schedules and routines. I hope your family has found a routine that helps you begin and end your day on a happy note!

We have some special events coming up this month. You will want to read the important dates carefully. We are hopeful the new playground will be ready to go very soon! Thank you to the PTO, School Board and Dr.Wityk for working together to complete this project. The PTO will continue to raise funds to go towards the next phases of the playground project.

We have a few reminders to help the school year go smoothly.

  • Absences should be called in to the office. Doctor's notes can be emailed to ccantrell@archie.k12.mo.us or brought in the following day. It is always helpful to send the teacher a message on Rooms too.

  • All dismissal changes need to be called into the office by noon. We understand that there are sometimes circumstances beyond your control. In those cases just let us know as soon as possible. Please limit daily changes to your child's dismissal plan. This will help avoid confusion and errors.

  • The district approved methods of communication are Rooms, email and phone. Teachers are sometimes available to check messages at plan time or recess depending on their schedules. They will also check messages before and after school. They are not able to respond during instructional times. We appreciate your understanding. Don't hesitate to contact the office if there is an immediate concern.

  • Infinite Campus can be checked via the Parent Portal. Please be sure to set up an account.

  • The district has moved to gmail this year. If you do not get a response from a staff member within 48 hours, please call. Filters sometimes send messages to junk mail. We will always do our best to respond within 24 hours.

Contact me if there is something you think would be beneficial to include in the monthly newsletters. Our goal is to communicate often and thoroughly with our families.

Your Principal,

Mrs.Tamara Stroud

Infinite Campus

Attention parents of Archie students: If you have not set up a Campus Portal account yet, please do so as soon as possible. It is available through the Infinite Campus site and a mobile app. This account will give you access to your student's grades, attendance, lunch balance and more. You will need your specific key code to activate your account. Please request your code by emailing infinitecampus@archie.k12.mo.us You will then be sent an e-mail with instructions on how to create your Campus Parent Portal.

We are now able to accept online payments for lunch. See Facebook or district website for more information.

responsibility

Hello! My name is Mrs.Johnston. I have introduced myself to many of you. I wanted to take this opportunity to share a little bit more about my role here at Archie.

I am the preschool-12th grade counselor at Archie. I work hand in hand with the administrators, teachers, the Compass Health school-based therapist and families to help meet students' needs.

I can help with individual needs, connect families to resources and assist families in crisis. Feel free to contact me with any questions. I will do my best to connect you to the right person.

Thank you!

It was exciting to meet the elementary students this week! We started Character Education in the classrooms!

Each month we will have a new character trait for the students and staff to focus on. A student will be chosen from each classroom for Student of the Month.

The character trait for September will be RESPONSIBILITY. Students will be learning about showing responsibility by doing their work, making good choices, being dependable and taking accountability for their actions. The students have many opportunities during the day to show responsibility. We can help our kids at home by giving them small tasks to do, asking them to share with siblings or friends, and encouraging them to take turns.

We are excited to watch as students learn to show responsibility at school, home and in the community!
