A Message From Mrs. Stroud

Dear Whirlwind Families,

As the fall season brings cooler weather and less daylight, it's a great time to remind everyone about the importance of consistent school attendance. Every day counts for your children's learning and growth, so please make every effort to have them at school on time. If possible, we encourage you to schedule appointments for Mondays when school is not in session, to minimize disruptions during the rest of the school week. Together, we can ensure a successful and productive school year!

It's important to note upcoming dates for parent nights, family events, and parent-teacher conferences to stay connected with your child's educational journey. These events offer valuable opportunities to engage with teachers, understand academic progress, and participate in school activities that foster community involvement. By attending these events, you can strengthen the partnership between home and school, helping to support your child’s success both academically and socially. Elementary teachers plan to meet with 100% of our families at our parent-teacher conferences. Teachers will be sending home conference sign-up sheets soon. Keep an eye on school communications for these important dates!

Thank you for your support!

Honesty

The #ArchieStrong character trait for October is HONESTY.

The Character word that we will focus on this month is HONESTY. We will teach students about honesty through character education lessons and daily opportunities. We will explain that honesty means truthfulness in what we say and do. It means people can rely on us because we have integrity. Honesty is the basis of a trusting relationship.  Honesty looks like responding truthfully when asked about a situation and sharing important information with trusted adults.

Parent Idea: Encouraging your child to tell the truth is important, but what should you do if you know he or she is lying? Don't label your child a liar, but help your child embrace truth-telling. Instead, share what you know about a situation, explain that you expect honesty, and give your child a path forward by finding a way for him or her to make amends. In some situations, it may help to acknowledge the feelings behind a lie, such as fear, anxiety, or embarrassment. Help your child see honesty as an act of courage and responsibility — something worth striving for. We would love for you to share success stories or conversations you and your family have had throughout the month. Feel free to send a message via Rooms or email.

October is also Drug and Alcohol Awareness Month. Red Ribbon Week for Archie will be October 22-25th! We will be teaching our elementary students about safety. We will have dress-up days that week which will be shared at a later date. National Bully Awareness Month is also observed in October.

We appreciate all you do to partner with us!
