Hello Whirlwind families!

I hope everyone had the opportunity to make some wonderful memories this summer! It is hard to believe August is already here! I've run into a few parents and students who have decided that August is a good thing; it's time to go back to school. 😊

Many of you have already registered your children for the upcoming school year—thank you! This is an important part of preparing for back-to-school. Registration gives families the opportunity to update contact information, review essential documents, and provide permissions for events and activities.

Becky Deardorff has shared emails and posts outlining the steps needed to complete this process. Please be sure to finish registration by August 6th. New student enrollment will take place August 7th & 8th. Help us spread the word to any new families in the community!

As we prepare to start the year strong, I encourage each of you to talk about goals for the school year. At our school, we emphasize personal growth, strong character, and a safe, supportive learning environment. Take some time as a family to reflect:

• What do you hope your child achieves this year?

• How does he or she hope to improve and grow?

• What goals do you have as a family to make the year successful?

These conversations are key to building a strong connection between school, home, and the wider community. Thank you for your continued support.

Welcome Back!
We’re excited to begin a new school year! A new year can bring both excitement and nervousness — but it’s also a wonderful opportunity to grow, meet new teachers, and make new friends.

I’ll be visiting classrooms to teach students about important character traits. This is a great time for students to connect and grow socially and emotionally. I also organize small groups to help students with similar needs support one another.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns about your child. Partnering with parents is essential to help ensure your child has a successful and positive school year.

🚌 Transportation Update for the 2025–2026 School Year

We’re excited to announce that Ecco Ride is our new contracted bus company for the upcoming school year. Stacie Hopkins will continue as our lead driver, and many of our wonderful drivers will be returning as well.

If your child will need bus transportation, please visit the Ecco Ride table at Back-to-School Night to secure their seat!

🔸 Preschool (age 4) and kindergarten students must have a parent or adult present at the bus stop or walk them to and from school.
🔸 Ecco Ride is hiring bus drivers! If you’re interested or have any transportation questions, contact Stacie Hopkins at 816-804-4845.

🚗 Car Riders & Walkers

To help ensure student safety and an efficient drop-off/pick-up process, please follow these designated procedures:

✅ Approved Drop-Off & Pick-Up Locations:

• Car Rider Line – Enter the parking lot from A Highway. Drop-off and pick-up take place at the north dome doors.

• Crosswalk – Students may use the designated crosswalk on South Ohio Street.

🚦 Important Reminders:

• Do not park and exit your vehicle unless you're going into the front office.

• Staff members will be present to assist during drop-off and pick-up.

• Please remain in your vehicle to help keep the line moving smoothly.
