What's happening in 2025-2026? (Update)
Angela Donald will be returning to Archie. She will be filling Lori Macrander's position. Angela is excited to be a Whirlwind once again.
Career Week- Remember that Career Week is this week! Please take your class during your special's time to the gym and pick them up at the gym every day. Mrs.Johnston is excited to have these guest speakers for our students! Thank you, specials teachers, for your support with this project! See presenters below.
End of Year Important Dates- (Repeat x 4) There was an addition this week for the Summer School Recommendations, student information to be completed by next week. The columns for those attending will need to be complete.
Meet Your Teacher Day- Check out the details. Reach out if you have questions or if something is missing. Those of you who are new, please visit with your buddy/mentor to be prepared. If you are getting a new teaching partner, be sure to reach out to them as well.
Summer School- (x2) Reminder that students attending summer school will leave their supplies at school. On the final day/week of school, you will send them to the classroom being used for summer school. If your classroom is being used by someone else for summer school, please remember that the basics need to be left available (stapler, pencils, markers, chart paper, tape, books for students). As a grade level, please consider what resources might be helpful for the students who will be here.
Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week- Chelle Bella Massage and Wellness wanted to show their gratitude, but could not participate last week. Please see the information below and swing by there on Friday.
Cass County Library Visits- Cherie is excited to welcome our students to the library! The Cass County Libraries work hard to engage students year-round, and the summer reading program is one of the great opportunities they offer. Please consider reminding parents about these library visits and encourage them to enroll their children in the summer reading program.
Before leaving for the library, take time to review audience behavior expectations and street safety with your students. If you need assistance or have a student out of the room when it's time to leave, please contact Stroud or McCullough. Thank you for helping make this a positive experience!
Farewell and Retirements- We have a few traditions here at Archie when we have to say goodbye.
Farewell- We will ask you to sign some cards and give a thumbprint sometime this week.
Retirement: Please join us for Tracy Randol's Retirement Party this Friday from 3:45–6:45 p.m. Tracy has dedicated 30 years to Archie, all spent teaching 6th grade! According to her calculations (and she is the math expert — unlike me!), that's approximately 1,000 students whose lives she has touched.
Let's come together to celebrate her incredible commitment to our district and students. We hope to see you there!
Tuesday is the last day to sign her card, book, and donate money for her gift (one of the traditions for many years here).
Final Benchmarking Information- (Repeat) Grade level teams met to discuss end-of-year testing. See 2025 Spring Benchmarking Dates for dates set by grade level teams. 5th grade needs to meet with Stroud to determine dates. Coordinate with Title I and SPED as needed for accommodations and support.
End of Year Clean Up- In the past, we have experienced teachers dropping items off in the workroom or leaving them in the hall if they do not want them. Please DO NOT do this with any district-purchased items. If you no longer want the item, please notify me. I will work with the custodial staff to determine where to store or someone needs the item. If you are changing rooms, be sure to talk with me about labeling items to stay or be moved.
PLEASE SHARE SHOUT-OUTS WITH STROUD TO ADD TO THE WEEKLY UPDATE!
A BIG SHOUT OUT TO:
Shout-out to everyone who helped with all things MAP- covering for a teacher that was giving the MAP, helping with make-up testing, adjusting classroom schedules/groups, waiting patiently to send groups back when classes are finishing, housing students that already tested, helping find Johnston or me, etc. Things go much smoother when you have a team like this! -Stroud
Shout-out to Johnston for working hard to sort out MAP details and wishes at Archie in her first year! -Stroud
I want to do a shout-out to all of the 3rd-5th-grade teachers who gave the MAP test. They did a great job of taking it seriously and keeping he students on task. They also had great attitudes when things needed to be adjusted! -Carolyn Johnston

Shout-out to Mrs. Mooney for the ongoing poster making she does to support ALL of our Whirlwinds K-12! Thankful for her talent and can-do attitude! -Stroud
