September Elementary Family Newsletter

This newsletter is a quick and handy resource for upcoming events at school and in the community. We hope everyone finds something helpful and informative inside!

Message from Mrs. Stroud

Hello Whirlwind families!

As cooler weather settles in, we’re enjoying the return of school routines and the excitement of a new season! With busy schedules in full swing, it’s a great time to talk with your child about responsibility, our character trait of the month—especially how they can help with responsibilities at home.

This month, we’re looking forward to KidSight screenings, dental screenings, the Land of Smiles program, and an upcoming PTO fundraiser. Grandparents Day Breakfast forms are due on the 4th! We hope to see many grandparents or special adults. Be sure to check the important dates and the events page on the school app to stay up to date on all activities.

We’re off to a great start this fall!

Counselor's Corner by Mrs. Johnston

resposibiltiy

Welcome Back!
We are off to an amazing start. I have so enjoyed going into classrooms this week! It is great to see the students and to see what they have been learning. In Character Education class, we talked about my role as a school counselor. The character word for September is responsibility, and we will begin talking about what their responsibilities are at school and at home.

For children, responsibility means following expectations by completing tasks like homework and chores, making good choices, and being accountable for their actions.

We will have an assembly at the end of the month for students who have shown this character trait. One student will be chosen from each classroom for recognition.

If you have any concerns or questions about school or your student, please feel free to contact me! I am looking forward to meeting more of you this year!

Transportation

Transportation Update for the 2025–2026 School Year

BUS RIDERS:

Ecco Ride is off to a great start in the Archie School District. If you have any changes, concerns, or questions, contact Stacie Hopkins at 816-804-4845. She would be happy to help. Stacie is our lead driver and helps coordinate transportation and safety in Archie.

CAR RIDERS AND WALKERS:

We would like to thank the City of Archie for partnering with the school district to install a new crosswalk on the north side of the building. We now have a staff member who helps manage traffic at that crosswalk before and after school.

To help ensure student safety and an efficient drop-off/pick-up process, please follow these designated procedures:

✅ Approved Drop-Off & Pick-Up Locations:

  1. Car Rider Line – Enter the parking lot from A Highway. Drop-off and pick-up take place at the north dome doors.

  2. Crosswalk – Students may use the designated crosswalks on South Ohio Street (north side) or A Highway (south side). If you are meeting your child at the N. Ohio crosswalk, please do so on the north side of the parking lot near the crosswalk.

We appreciate your continued cooperation during this transition and thank you for helping us keep students safe.

🚦 Important Reminders:

  • Do not park and exit your vehicle unless you're going into the front office.

  • Staff members will be present to assist during drop-off and pick-up.

  • Please remain in your vehicle to help keep the line moving smoothly.

  • The visitor parking at the main entrance is intended for those picking up early, dropping off after an appointment, or volunteering during school hours. Please do not use these for pick-up and drop-off times.
