Message from Mr. Schulte
I hope everyone had a wonderful and restful Thanksgiving break surrounded by family and friends. As we move into December, I want to wish each of you a joyful and wonderful holiday season. This time of year brings many celebrations, but it also marks an important stretch academically as we prepare to close out the first semester.
We will be gearing up for finals soon, and I want to be sure all students and families are aware of the schedule:
December 17th: Finals for Hours 2, 4, and 7
December 18th: Finals for Hours 3, 6, and 8
December 19th: Final for 1st Hour
Last month, I had the pleasure of recognizing and posting students with perfect attendance! This month, I encourage everyone to take a moment to review the information from our student handbook regarding attendance expectations. Consistent attendance is a key factor in academic success, and understanding our policies can help support students who may be struggling in this area.
Thank you for your continued support and dedication to our school community. Let’s finish the semester strong and head into the holiday season with pride in all that our students have accomplished.
Best Wishes!
Mr. Schulte

$$$ for Life After High School
If you’re planning to attend college, trade school, or any postsecondary program after graduation, you’ll definitely want to complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid).
Filling out the FAFSA opens the door to grants, scholarships, work-study, and low-interest loans that can make college much more affordable. Even if you think you might not qualify for much aid, many schools and scholarship programs still require the FAFSA to be on file before awarding funds. The earlier you apply, the better your chances for the best aid packages. You can start your application at https://studentaid.gov.
If you haven’t already, please check out state financial aid, scholarships and grants from the Missouri Department of Higher Education and Workforce Development (MDHEWD).
https://journeytocollege.mo.gov/pay/state-financial-aid/
Be sure to check out the links below for more information and scholarship opportunities:
-My Scholarship Central- https://myscholarshipcentral.org/ - allows for you to apply for more than 150 scholarships at one time. Set up an account now using a personal email address. Most scholarships aren’t posted until January.

Did you know that earning a certain score on the ACT can open the door to additional college scholarship money? Check out the information below to learn more. This is also a great way to meet the A+ math requirement if you haven’t already completed it.
For those of you interested, I am linking the ACT flyer with testing dates, registration website, and information regarding ACT prep, and reasons to take the ACT- ACT Test Dates Flyer 25-26.pdf

The Character word for December is Compassion. Compassion isn’t simply feeling sympathy; it’s recognizing the needs of others and being moved to take positive, supportive action.
For middle and high school students, compassion can be a powerful tool for building stronger peer relationships to create a culture where every student feels seen and valued. Adolescence is a time of rapid growth, shifting identities, and sometimes overwhelming emotions. Your example, your language, and your daily interactions help students learn how to respond with empathy and compassion.
A few ways we can help students practice compassion this month include:
Encouraging active listening and respectful conversation
Modeling patience, kindness, and understanding
Creating opportunities for students to support one another
Thank you for the work you do each day to shape not only students’ minds, but their character!
The 5th grade Leadership Group is partnering with the Hope Squad to sell "Kindy Grams" again this year to raise money for a good cause. There will be more to come!

Good attendance is imperative to success in school. Good attendance impacts a student’s grades, overall educational experience, and sets positive habits to will help them become successful in life.
Students who are absent more than ten (10) days during a semester in any class are at risk of not earning credit in that class. Exceptions may be made in the event of extenuating circumstances that can be verified such as chronic health issues or medical appointments. If credit is denied due to attendance, the next step in the appeal process is the superintendent and then the Board of Education.
The Missouri State Law states that all children between the ages of 7 and 17 are compelled to attend school or receive adequate private instruction in the State of Missouri. Names of children in this age group not meeting the attendance regulations of their local school district shall be submitted to county juvenile authorities for further action. In addition, parents whose children do not meet these attendance guidelines will be reported for educational neglect.
A letter will be sent to parents when a student has reached 4 absences in a semester. A second letter will be sent after 8 absences, at which time an attendance meeting with the student, parents, and building principal will be held. The possibility of credit loss will be conveyed. A referral to the county juvenile authorities and/or referral to the Division of Family Services will be conveyed. Notification will also be conveyed on the semester grade card and the official HS transcript if credits are not granted by the presence of a NC notation in place of a traditional letter grade, which is a No Credit mark. Regular and punctual attendance is essential to success at school. If a student is absent from school, he/she must bring a note from a parent stating a valid reason for the absence or the parent may call the HS office or convey the message in person. Students who report to class 15 minutes or more late shall be considered absent. The student may be considered truant if parent notification is not received (see Truancy section) in code of conduct.
If a student is absent from school when an assignment is given, one day will be allowed for every day of the absence in order to complete make-up work, as long as the absence is verified or excused. A test or project due that day must be made up the first day back. The daily participation component of the class grade cannot be made up. Parents may request homework by calling the office before 9:00 a.m. Any work picked up is due upon the student’s return. Students will receive a zero in each class missed. Once make-up work is received by the teacher (on time), the zero will be removed and the proper grade will be given.
Appeal of the loss of credit due to excessive absences: After the tenth absence from any one class the student may request a hearing before the attendance review committee upon appeal. The committee will decide whether (1) the absences are unjustified and the student is dropped from enrollment in that class and receives an F, (2) the absences are unjustified and the student is suspended from all classes for the rest of the semester and receives an F in all classes, or (3) the absences are justified and the student is allowed to continue in regular enrollment and make up missed school work.

At Archie School, our goal is to partner with parents to ensure every student achieves both academic and personal success. One important way parents can support their students is by stating current with academic progress.
We encourage you to regularly monitor your student’s grades and assignments through the Infinite Campus Parent Portal. This tool allows you to view grades and identify any missing work. If you are unable to access Infinite Campus, please see the instructions provided below or contact our front office for assistance.
