A Message From Mr. Schulte-

As we move into spring, our students are gearing up for MAP and EOC state testing. These assessments are an important measure of student progress, so please check below for more details on testing dates and preparation tips.

Along with academics, spring brings an exciting season of track, softball, baseball, and many other activities. We encourage everyone to come out and support our student-athletes as they compete!

We are also looking forward to our Middle School/High School Open House on April 9th. This event will feature a 6th Grade Showcase, 7th & 8th Grade Parent/Teacher Conferences, and Freshman Orientation at 6:00 PM. High school students will also receive their draft schedules from advisors that evening. Stay tuned for more details!

Thank you for your continued support as we head into this busy and exciting time of year!

Mr. Schulte

State testing

Spring 2025 State Testing!

Our official testing window opens mid March.

Students in grades 6th-8th will be take the MAP Grade Level Assessment and high school students in Algebra I, Algebra II, English II, Biology, and Government will take EOC assessments. The majority of testing will begin April 15th and last until the 1st week of May. More details will be shared at a later date. Being at school on testing days is imperative. Students will achieve higher scores when they take their assessments in testing sessions with their class.

Preparing for state testing, such as MAP and EOCs, is essential for student success. Here are some key tips for middle and high school students to help them perform their best:

Before the Test

✅ Stay Organized – Know the testing schedule and what subjects will be covered. Mark important dates on a calendar.
✅ Get Plenty of Rest – Aim for 8–10 hours of sleep each night leading up to the test to improve focus and memory.
✅ Eat a Healthy Breakfast – Fuel your brain with protein, whole grains, and fruit to stay energized.
✅ Practice Time Management – Work on pacing yourself with sample questions or practice tests.
✅ Review Class Materials – Go over notes, previous assignments, and study guides provided by teachers.

During the Test

📝 Read All Directions Carefully – Don’t rush; make sure you understand each question before answering.
🧠 Use Test-Taking Strategies – Eliminate incorrect answers, underline keywords, and take your time.
⌛ Pace Yourself – Don’t spend too much time on one question; move on and come back if needed.
💨 Take Deep Breaths & Stay Positive – Stay calm and confident. A positive mindset can help you perform better.

Encourage your student to prepare early, stay relaxed, and do their best! Teachers and advisors are great resources for additional practice and support.

Teamwork

The character word for February is Teamwork!

Teamwork is working respectfully and effectively with a group and doing your share. Many basic character strengths, such as communication, self-control, and humility, support a person's ability to work on a team.

Teamwork is more than getting along with people. Teamwork improves problem-solving skills by teaching students to come up with ideas, delegate tasks, and work towards shared objectives. Teamwork also develops leadership qualities, as students learn to initiate, delegate, and assist their peers.

College Visits

It is important for students to visit various colleges and universities, attend job and college fairs, job shadow, etc so that they can make informed decisions for their future.  Juniors and seniors are permitted to use two days per school year to explore options for their future.  Sophomores will be permitted to participate in these visits with approval of administration.

Once a student decides to take part in this opportunity, he or she needs to pick up a college visit form from Academic Services and get the visit approved.  You will take the form and complete the bottom portion during and after the visit.  The form must then be returned to the attendance office so that your absence can be changed to present- school activity.  Not following these steps will result in the day being counted as an absence.  Below is a link to the college visit form- College Visit Form

A+

If you need updates on your A+ hours and other eligibility requirements, please contact Mrs. Macrander in Academic Services.  A few eligibility reminders for A+ :

  • Have at least a 95% attendance record overall for grades 9-12, which equates to approximately no more than 30 days missed.

  • Perform at least 50 hours of unpaid tutoring or mentoring.

  • Maintain a record of good citizenship (OSS/ISS) and avoid the unlawful use of drugs and/or alcohol while in grades 9-12.

  • Have achieved a score of proficient or advanced on the Algebra I end-of-course exam or a higher level DESE approved end-of-course exam in the field of mathematics or reach a designated score on ACT math.

If you are unsure if you have met the EOC requirement, please reach out to verify.  Seniors will need to take care of this requirement ASAP.

Infinite Campus

The Archie R-V School District previously used the Tyler Student Information System (SIS); however, due to company changes, we were required to change systems. Many of you have completed on-line registration on our new system, Infinite Campus. A BIG shout out to Mrs. Becky Deardorff and Mrs. Michelle Mell for their leadership throughout this transition.

We ask that you have patience and understanding throughout this school year as ALL staff and families will be navigating this new system. Our administrative assistants will do their best to answer your questions or get back to you with an answer as soon as possible. Again, thank you for your patience.
