Self-Control

The character word for January is Self-Control.

Self-control is an important skill that helps us make thoughtful choices, manage our emotions, and stay focused on our goals. Whether it’s resisting the temptation to procrastinate, staying calm in a heated situation, or making good and productive decisions, self-control empowers us to take charge of our actions.

Practicing self-control may not always be easy, but it’s a skill that grows stronger with effort. Start by setting small, achievable goals, and remind yourself of the bigger picture. Remember, every moment of self-discipline brings you closer to success and builds a foundation for lifelong resilience.

Reflect on choices, take deep breaths when emotions run high, and always strive to be best version of ourself!

Snow Day

AMI (Alternative Method of Instruction) Days

In the event of a school closure, our district may utilize AMI (Alternative Method of Instruction) days, allowing students to continue learning virtually. Schools can use up to five AMI days each year. While we prioritize face-to-face instruction, AMI days help maintain academic progress when in-person learning isn't possible.

Key Points for Students on AMI Days:

  • Follow the early release schedule

  • Join each class via Google Meet at the scheduled time, dressed appropriately and in a proper location.

  • Keep cameras on and microphones muted unless instructed otherwise.

  • Attendance is taken during each class period.

  • Teachers provide direct instruction and post assignments on Google Classroom.

  • If internet issues arise, students must email teachers and complete assignments upon returning to school.

Key Points for Teachers on AMI Days:

  • Teachers host Google Meet sessions for each class, provide instruction, and post assignments on Google Classroom.

  • Sessions last approximately 15-20 minutes, with remaining time for questions or independent work.

  • Teachers take attendance and follow the early release schedule, including plan periods.

MS/HS Early Release Schedule

Period 1: 8:00-8:34

Period 2: 8:38-9:12

Period 3: 9:16-9:50

Period 4: MS Lunch 9:54-10:28 (MS Advisement)

Period 5: HS Lunch 10:32-11:06 (HS Advisement)

Period 6: 11:10-11:44

Period 7: 11:48-12:22

Period 8: 12:26-1:00

We kindly ask parents to help encourage and motivate students to join Google Meets on time for each scheduled class. Attendance during these sessions is crucial for maintaining academic progress and ensuring that students are counted present for the day.

Here is a reminder of the information shared on our 2024-2025 Archie R-V Calendar regarding inclement weather and AMI days.

Inclement weather days or school closure days will be made up on 1/13, 2/10, 3/3, 3/31, 4/28, and 5/5.

Alternative Method of Instruction(AMI virtual) days will be used at the discretion of administration. AMI days may be used earlier in the event of an extended closure.

For more detailed guidelines, please refer to the Student Handbook. Thank you for supporting our efforts to ensure uninterrupted learning!

Archie R-V App

app

The Archie R-V app will continue to provide families and the community with event updates, current events, and other important information.

One of the enhancements to the app is the use of ROOMS. This will be replacing Remind. Why make the change?

  • All communication is through one app

  • Notifications available via text, email or app

  • Receive updates from teachers

  • No code needed

  • Maintain open communication with teachers about your child(ren)

Infinite Campus

The Archie R-V School District previously used the Tyler Student Information System (SIS); however, due to company changes, we were required to change systems. Many of you have completed on-line registration on our new system, Infinite Campus. A BIG shout out to Mrs. Becky Deardorff and Mrs. Michelle Mell for their leadership throughout this transition.

We ask that you have patience and understanding throughout this school year as ALL staff and families will be navigating this new system. Our administrative assistants will do their best to answer your questions or get back to you with an answer as soon as possible. Again, thank you for your patience.
