March Newsletter

“Teamwork is the ability to work together toward a common vision. The ability to direct individual accomplishments toward organizational objectives. It is the fuel that allows common people to attain uncommon results." —Andrew Carnegie

Message from Mr. Schulte:

As we enter March, it is hard to believe we are already nearing the end of the third quarter. I can remember when I was a  student in school, the school year seemed to move so slowly. Even in my early years of teaching, the days and months felt much longer. The older I get, I realize how quickly time moves.

I want to encourage our students and parents to take time to appreciate where they are right now. It is natural to look ahead to the next chapter, whether that is the next grade level, graduation, or future plans. It is important to enjoy the present. The experiences, friendships, and opportunities you have today are meaningful and help shape who you will become in the future.

As Spring Break approaches, I hope everyone finds time to rest, relax, and spend time doing things they enjoy. This break will provide an important opportunity to prepare for the final stretch of the school year as we gear up for State Assessment testing beginning in April. We appreciate the continued hard work of our students and the support of our families as we move into this important time and busy time of the year.

Mr. Schulte

ACT

Did you know that earning a certain score on the ACT can open the door to additional college scholarship money? Check out the information below to learn more. This is also a great way to meet the A+ math requirement if you haven’t already completed it.

For those of you interested, I am linking the ACT flyer with testing dates, registration website, and information regarding ACT prep, and reasons to take the ACT- ACT Test Dates Flyer 25-26.pdf

Be sure to use Archie’s school code so we can receive your scores.  This will be very helpful for those of you using this for A+.  The school code is 260080.

The link below is helpful and a more direct path to finding testing locations near Archie. You will feel less anxious on test day if you are close to home.   ACT Testing Center Locator.

I have fee waivers for those of you who qualify (free or reduced lunch status), so stop by to get one before you register.

SENIORS!

Scholarships-When submitting scholarship applications, please keep the following in mind:  Only turn in applications that are fully complete and include all required materials (e.g., transcript, essay, teacher recommendations, etc.). If you would like the school to mail your application on your behalf, be sure to submit all materials to Angela at least three days prior to the deadline.

Incomplete application packets may cause delays and could result in your application not arriving in time for consideration.

FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid).

If you’re planning to attend college, trade school, or any postsecondary program after graduation, you’ll definitely want to complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid).

Filling out the FAFSA opens the door to grants, scholarships, work-study, and low-interest loans that can make college much more affordable. Even if you think you might not qualify for much aid, many schools and scholarship programs still require the FAFSA to be on file before awarding funds. The earlier you apply, the better your chances for the best aid packages.  You can start your application at https://studentaid.gov.

This year cords will be awarded to seniors to wear at graduation who demonstrate their financial aid readiness, by completing the FAFSA.  To receive these cords, students must submit their FAFSA submission summary to Mrs. Mell.

Be sure to check out the links below for more information and scholarship opportunities:

-My Scholarship Central- https://myscholarshipcentral.org/ - allows for you to apply for more than 150 scholarships at one time. Set up an account now using a personal email address.  Most scholarships aren’t posted until January.

TEAMWORK

Here are the basic aspects of teamwork to emphasize with students:

Communication – Listening actively, speaking respectfully, and sharing ideas clearly.

Cooperation – Working together toward a shared goal and supporting one another.

Responsibility – Doing your part and being accountable for your role in the group.

Respect – Valuing different opinions, strengths, and perspectives.

Problem-Solving – Working through disagreements calmly and finding solutions together.

Encouragement – Building others up, offering help, and celebrating group success.

February Students of the Month!

This month, we are proud to recognize our Students of the Month, Elaina Donham and Bryson WIlkins for demonstrating the character trait of respect. These students consistently show respect through their words and actions toward their peers, teachers, and school community. Whether it is listening attentively, encouraging others, or taking pride in our school, they set a positive example for everyone around them. Their commitment to treating others with kindness and consideration helps create a supportive and welcoming environment at our school. We congratulate these students and thank them for helping make our school a place where respect is valued #ArchieStrong

Select members of the Archie HS Choir got the opportunity to perform in the annual WEMO Conference Honor Choir in Osceola, MO. These singers, along with others from our conference, spent the day making music with their clinician, Stephen Rew. Bravo, singers!🎶
