Dual Credit Classes through UCM

Archie High School students have the opportunity to take dual credit classes through the University of Central Missouri (UCM). Students can begin classes when they are a sophomore, have a minimum GPA of 3.0,  and counselor/principal recommendation.   Students choosing to earn high school credit and three hours of college credit must be independent, motivated students.  All dual credit classes are online with an instructor from UCM, not Archie with the exception of DC Comp I and Comp II.  Students must be able to problem solve, manage their time, and use resources through UCM  to complete college level work.  There are tuition waivers and scholarships available for students who qualify.  Enrollment for the spring 2026  is underway.  Please see the list below to see other dual credit courses that are available this spring:

2025-2026 Dual Credit Course List- 25-26 Dual Credit Courses

*Enrollment must be completed by Friday, December 5th to ensure everything is set up correctly for spring classes. Classes will fill up quickly, so the sooner you secure your spot, the better.  Morgan Lyons, located in the White Lab, will help you set up your dual enrollment account and get you started. You can email her with questions at mlyons@archie.k12.mo.us

*The cost of each course is around $297 ($99/credit hour) in addition to books, apps, etc. required by the instructor.

*There are scholarship opportunities available to help pay for the courses.

*Students will earn high school credit, 0.5 credits per course, in addition to 3 college credit hours.

FAFSA

The Federal Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form is now available for students to complete and submit. The Missouri Department of Higher Education & Workforce Development (MDHEWD) encourages students to file their FAFSA before February 1, 2026 to be considered for the most financial aid available.

Seniors planning to use A+ scholarship funds or earn the A+ medal and cord for graduation, you must complete the FAFSA and submit a copy of your FAFSA Submission Summary to Academic Services.

To file a FAFSA, you will need an FSA ID (or your login information if you already have one), your 2024 tax information, and to determine if you are a dependent or independent student. If you are a dependent student, you will also need to identify who your parent/contributor is. An FSA ID may take a few days to establish due to verifications, so it is important to create one before you plan to file your FAFSA.

ACT

It’s that time of year when juniors and seniors need to start thinking about taking the ACT.  This is a GREAT way to satisfy the math requirement for A+ eligibility if you haven't already done so.

For those of you interested, I am linking the ACT flyer with testing dates, registration website, and information regarding ACT prep, and reasons to take the ACT- ACT Test Dates Flyer 25-26.pdf

Be sure to use Archie’s school code so we can receive your scores.  This will be very helpful for those of you using this for A+.  The school code is 260080.

The link below is helpful and a more direct path to finding testing locations near Archie. You will feel less anxious on test day if you are close to home.   ACT Testing Center Locator.

I have fee waivers for those of you who qualify (free or reduced lunch status), so stop by to get one before you register.

Interested juniors and seniors can sign up for the UCM ACT Prep Class on Tuesday, November 25th from 8AM-12PM. The cost is $25.  Money and permission forms are due by November 14th. Dozer Days

Archie Students Got to Work at Dozer Day!

Some Archie students rolled up their sleeves at the NUCA Greater Kansas City Constructing Careers Day at Dozer Day!

They got hands-on experience pouring concrete, reinforcing rebar, and even operating heavy equipment — all while connecting with employers, trade schools, and colleges to explore future career paths.

It was an awesome day of discovery, teamwork, and building foundations for the future!
