A Message From Mr. Schulte

Dear Whirlwind Patrons,

As we enter the month of October, I want to take a moment to address an important factor in student success which is attendance. Regular attendance is one of the biggest factors for academic success, students who attend school consistently are more focused, engaged, and perform better.

I would like to remind all students and families of our attendance policy. If a student misses more than 10 days of school or class in a semester, they will be required to make up seat time to earn credit for their class. Seat time may be made up after school or through Saturday School. This policy is in place to ensure students meet the required instructional hours and are not missing out on learning time.

We understand some absences are unavoidable, whether due to illness, emergencies, or other circumstances. However, it is important students stay within the 10-day threshold to avoid the need for make-up time and to stay on track academically.

In an effort to support families and minimize disruptions to the school week, we encourage you to schedule appointments, such as doctor visits, dental checkups, or other appointments on Mondays. Our four day school week offers a great opportunity for families to plan ahead and avoid missing instructional time during the school week. This will help reduce absences and ensure students are in class, focused, and ready to learn..

Regular attendance builds consistency, accountability, and academic strength. Students who regularly miss class tend to struggle with keeping up with lessons, assignments, and classroom activities, which can affect their grades and overall progress.

Sincerely,

Mr. Schulte

The Archie R-V app will continue to provide families and the community with event updates, current events, and other important information.

One of the enhancements to the app is the use of ROOMS. This will be replacing Remind. Why make the change?

  • All communication is through one app

  • Notifications available via text, email or app

  • Receive updates from teachers

  • No code needed

  • Maintain open communication with teachers about your child(ren)

Infinite Campus

The Archie R-V School District previously used the Tyler Student Information System (SIS); however, due to company changes, we were required to change systems. Many of you have completed on-line registration on our new system, Infinite Campus. A BIG shout out to Mrs. Becky Deardorff and Mrs. Michelle Mell for their leadership throughout this transition.

We ask that you have patience and understanding throughout this school year as ALL staff and families will be navigating this new system. Our administrative assistants will do their best to answer your questions or get back to you with an answer as soon as possible. Again, thank you for your patience.

Honesty

The Character Trait for October is Honesty. Helping students learn the importance and development of the trait of Honesty/Integrity will help them build trust, establish credibility, and create strong connections. Providing character lessons about integrity benefits students in several ways:

  • Character Development: Honesty/Integrity is a fundamental building block of strong character. It fosters honesty, trustworthiness, and ethical behavior.

  • Future Success: Students with honesty/integrity are more likely to succeed in their academic and professional pursuits, and people will value them more because they are loyal, honest, reliable, and ethical.

  • Positive Relationships: Honesty/Integrity will help build strong and healthy relationships with peers, teachers, and family members.

  • Leadership Development: Honesty/Integrity is a fundamental trait for influential leaders. Teaching students integrity gives them the power to inspire trust and confidence in others.

  • Moral Compass: Integrity provides students with an invaluable moral compass to guide their decisions and actions.

  • Community Impact: Students with integrity contribute more positively to communities and society.

College Visits

It is important for students to visit various colleges and universities, attend job and college fairs, job shadow, etc so that they can make informed decisions for their future.  Juniors and seniors are permitted to use two days per school year to explore options for their future.  Sophomores will be permitted to participate in these visits with approval of administration.

Once a student decides to take part in this opportunity, he or she needs to pick up a college visit form from Academic Services and get the visit approved.  You will take the form and complete the bottom portion during and after the visit.  The form must then be returned to the attendance office so that your absence can be changed to present- school activity.  Not following these steps will result in the day being counted as an absence.  Below is a link to the college visit form- College Visit Form
