A Message From Mr. Schulte

Dear Whirlwind Families and Patrons,

What a great Homecoming Week we had! It was great to celebrate with our students, staff, and community. Thank you to everyone who helped make the week special and memorable for our students.

As we move further into the fall semester, I encourage you to check your student’s academic progress regularly through the Infinite Campus Parent Portal. Staying connected helps us all work together to support student success. If you run into any issues logging in, please do not hesitate to call the front office for help.

We are excited to host Parent/Teacher Conferences on October 27th from 11:30 AM – 7:30 PM, and we look forward to connecting with as many families as possible. These conferences are a great opportunity to celebrate your student’s progress and collaborate on ways to help them achieve success.

Our students continue to do a great job with the new Cell Phone/Personal Electronic Devices policy, though we have seen a slight increase in violations recently. Please remind your student to keep their phone powered off and put away during the school day so they can stay engaged with learning. If you need to contact your child during the day, our front office is always available to assist.

One of the best parts of this school year has been watching our students actively engage with each other during lunch, privileges, or just passing in the hallway. Thank you for your continued partnership in making our school a place where students feel connected, supported, and ready to learn.

Mr. Schulte

rootEd

Archie High School has received a grant and has been selected to participate in the rootEd Missouri Career Advising Initiative (MCAI), a statewide effort to ensure rural high school students have access to a dedicated college and career advisor to support their success after graduation. rootEd advisors provide all seniors with one-on-one career and college advising to ensure they graduate on a path to a well-paying job—whether through college, career training, apprenticeships, or military service. As part of the initiative, rootEd advisors also partner with the local business community to help introduce students to in-demand career paths, including those close to home. Michelle Mell will serve as the rootEd advisor for our school.

The Missouri Career Advising Initiative is a partnership between the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) and rootEd Missouri. rootEd Missouri is a program led by Ozarks Technical Community College and the national nonprofit rootEd Alliance, which works to increase economic mobility and access to opportunities for the next generation of rural Americans.

Schools were selected based on rural status, geographic representation, postsecondary enrollment trends, percentage of students eligible for free or reduced lunch, and potential benefits identified by the district.

Mrs. Mell will work individually with students and their families to:

  • Explore careers and apply for college or training programs that support their path

  • Navigate financial aid opportunities, including FAFSA completion

  • Enroll in college or career training, earn a workplace credential, and/or enlist in the military

  • Successfully transition from high school, which may include help with housing, transportation, and other needs

As part of MCAI, Mrs. Mell  will receive ongoing training, data insights, and operational guidance from rootEd Missouri in order to support our students.

rootEd Alliance is committed to expanding economic opportunity and mobility for rural youth by ensuring every student graduates high school on a path to a well-paying career. rootEd Alliance places dedicated college and career advisors in rural high schools to work one-on-one with all seniors to define and create a plan for their futures, whether through a college degree, career credentials, apprenticeships, or military service. Launched in 2018 and now operating in Missouri, Arkansas, Texas, Alaska, and Idaho, rootEd advisors will serve over 25,000 students at more than 300 rural high schools in the 2025-2026 academic year. rootEd Alliance is made possible by a group of philanthropists, convened by BDT & MSD Partners. We’re thrilled to bring rootEd Missouri’s proven model to our students.

FAFSA

The Federal Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form is now available for students to complete and submit. The Missouri Department of Higher Education & Workforce Development (MDHEWD) encourages students to file their FAFSA before February 1, 2026 to be considered for the most financial aid available.

If you plan to use A+ scholarship funds or earn the A+ medal and cord for graduation, you must complete the FAFSA and submit a copy of your FAFSA Submission Summary to Academic Services.

To file a FAFSA, you will need an FSA ID (or your login information if you already have one), your 2024 tax information, and to determine if you are a dependent or independent student. If you are a dependent student, you will also need to identify who your parent/contributor is. An FSA ID may take a few days to establish due to verifications, so it is important to create one before you plan to file your FAFSA.

ACT

It’s that time of year when juniors and seniors need to start thinking about taking the ACT.  This is a GREAT way to satisfy the math requirement for A+ eligibility if you haven't already done so.

For those of you interested, I am linking the ACT flyer with testing dates, registration website, and information regarding ACT prep, and reasons to take the ACT- ACT Test Dates Flyer 25-26.pdf

Be sure to use Archie’s school code so we can receive your scores.  This will be very helpful for those of you using this for A+.  The school code is 260080.

The link below is helpful and a more direct path to finding testing locations near Archie. You will feel less anxious on test day if you are close to home.   ACT Testing Center Locator

Be on the lookout for information regarding the virtual UCM ACT Prep Class on Tuesday, November 25th from 8AM-12PM.

I have fee waivers for those of you who qualify (free or reduced lunch status), so stop by to get one before you register.

Honesty

The character word for October is honesty! We can show this to students by continuing to be an example doing what is right and expected with sincerity. We can teach the truth with kindness and accountability for words and actions.

Key Aspects of Honesty

  • Truthfulness: Speaking the truth and acting in accordance with what is right.

  • Integrity: Adhering to personal and moral principles, even when no one is watching.

  • Sincerity: A genuine approach to others and to one's own self.

  • Fairness: Acting in a way that does not discriminate.

  • Respect: Honesty is a way to show respect for others

  • Transparency: Presenting one's true self

  • Responsibility: Taking ownership

October is a great time to teach about the danger of drugs and alcohol. Vaping has become a big concern and it thought to not be as unhealthy, but studies have shown that vaping could be more dangerous than smoking. We will be having Red Ribbon Week the 20th through the 24th.

Counselor Referral- Students would like to make a referral to see me can go to the Archie bookmarks tab and click on the referral form. It is private and is only seen by Mrs. Johnston.

bullying

October is National Bullying Prevention Month
At Archie Schools, we are committed to creating a safe, supportive, and welcoming environment for every student. This month, we join schools across the nation in taking a stand against bullying by promoting kindness, respect, and inclusion. Students are reminded that their words and actions matter, and that standing up for others makes our community stronger. We encourage families to have conversations at home about the importance of treating others with empathy and respect. Together, we can ensure Archie is a place where everyone feels valued and safe.

Red Ribbon Week

Red Ribbon Week – October 21st–24th
Archie Schools is excited to celebrate Red Ribbon Week, the nation’s largest drug prevention campaign. This week serves as a reminder to make healthy choices and live drug-free lives. Students will take part in activities that encourage positive decision-making, leadership, and school spirit. In addition to raising awareness about the dangers of drugs and alcohol, we are also focusing on the harmful effects of vaping. We encourage families to join the conversation at home by reminding students that staying drug, alcohol, and vape-free is the best way to protect their health and build a bright future. Together, we can help our students make choices that keep them safe and strong.

Archie R-V App

app

The Archie R-V app will continue to provide families and the community with event updates, current events, and other important information.

One of the enhancements to the app is the use of ROOMS. This will be replacing Remind. Why make the change?

  • All communication is through one app

  • Notifications available via text, email or app

  • Receive updates from teachers

  • No code needed

  • Maintain open communication with teachers about your child(ren)

Infinite Campus

IC

At Archie School, our goal is to partner with parents to ensure every student achieves both academic and personal success. One important way parents can support their students is by stating current with academic progress.

We encourage you to regularly monitor your student’s grades and assignments through the Infinite Campus Parent Portal. This tool allows you to view grades and identify any missing work. If you are unable to access Infinite Campus, please see the instructions provided below or contact our front office for assistance.

Thank you for your continued partnership in supporting your student’s education. For specific questions about grades or assignments, please reach out directly to your student’s teacher
